Early April we left Zadar for a month of cruising on board Orka 4, a Salpa 50. The plan was to sail to Greece, Cyprus and perhaps even further on east. Orka 4 proved a reliable yacht, a very comfortable home away from home and a fast means of transportation. We spent the major part of the trip in East Mediterranean waters, soaking up the early season sun, swimming in the still chilly waters, reading books on the aft deck, catching fish from the swimming platform, and sampling delicious Mediterranean food and wine.
Nearly every day we were able to combine sailing and sight seeing, exploring small fishing ports or scaling the walls of impressive forts in the bigger harbors. We always came back to the welcome sight of Orka 4, promising all modern day creature comforts, hot showers and a well stocked fridge. Chilling out, our two children were very content to spend time in their own cosy cabins, reading more books or just listening to their music. We were so busy enjoying ourselves that we never had a chance to try out the pop-up television. Pity really!
On the very rare occasion that we had a technical question or an issue over international formalities we found Arch International supportive, helpful and willing to think out of the box, all in order to make our east Med cruise our ultimate motor yacht adventure. So a warm and heartfelt thank you all those involved at Arch!
